Madison Fire Fighters Local 311 family in need of help:

On Sunday, February 25, Kate Adler went for a run and suffered a sudden cardiac arrest, just a few blocks from the home she shares with her husband, Bryan and 21-month-old daughter, Iris. Kate is a nurse and Bryan is a Fire Fighters Local 311 member, working as a paramedic with the City of Middleton. As fate would have it, a bystander called 9-1-1 after finding Kate unresponsive, and Bryan’s closest friends and colleagues with Middleton EMS, Middleton Fire and Middleton Police responded to expertly care for Kate. Because of Bryan and Kate’s medical background, they were greeted at UW ER and ICU by many more friends who did everything in their power to optimize Kate’s outcome and comfort Bryan. Miraculously, Kate survived and, in time, is expected to make a full recovery. During the cardiac catheterization they did find a Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) of the LAD. This condition will require a lot of rest and medical rehab to recover from.

Many of you have asked how you can help this young family. The road to recovery will include both Bryan and Kate taking an extended time off from work as Kate heals. We all want to support Kate and Bryan through this frightening ordeal and give back to a couple who have dedicated their lives to helping others. The best way to do that right now is to help alleviate the financial stress this has put on them.
Let’s show Kate and Bryan how much they are loved and that they are not alone!
Whatever you can give is greatly appreciated and all funds raised will be used to assist them with whatever needs arise during Kate’s recovery.
