Help Support Lieutenant John Omelina
With the family's permission, this is the official support page for Lieutenant John Omelina.
Lieutenant John Omelina has proudly served the South Shore Fire Department for 21 years, the last 10 as a Lieutenant. Throughout his career, John has been a mentor, leader, and teacher, dedicating himself to the training division, most recent as the department Training Officer, and helping shape the careers of countless firefighters. He also played a key role in establishing the Racine County Joint Fire Academy, a lasting legacy that will benefit generations of firefighters to come.
In addition to his leadership in training, John has spent 15 years serving on the fire investigation unit. To his coworkers, John is more than a colleague—he is a brother, a mentor, and a friend.
Recently, at just 49 years old, John was diagnosed with gastric cancer. His treatment will involve at least one major surgery, months of rehab and long-term care. This diagnosis has placed a significant and unexpected financial burden on his family, with medical costs, travel expenses, and other costs quickly adding up.
John has spent his life serving his community and supporting others in their time of need. Now, we have the opportunity to support him.
We are asking for donations to help the Omelina family during this challenging time. Every contribution, big or small, will go directly toward easing their financial stress and allowing John to focus on healing and spending time with his family.
Thank you for your generosity and for standing with John and his loved ones. Together, we can give back to someone who has given so much.
